It’s re-opening day and as I sit here typing I can’t help but think: Boy, are we tired! Through blood, sweat and tears the garden team worked extra hard to get the gardens ready to welcome the public. We weeded, watered, planted, prepped, pulled, pruned and pine strawed. It’s been so long, it was almost strange to see and hear people walking through the gardens as we work but everyone has a smile on their face and their enjoyment is obvious. Thanks to a warm spell, our winter color is maturing faster than expected so the annual planting continues. Magnolia Plaza will be smelling sweet with Viola Sorbet XP Morpho and True Blue (Viola cornuta) along with white Alyssum while Dinosaur Kale (Brassica oleracea var. palmifolia) is ready to be planted in the Color Opposites garden. Both the Color Opposites room and Color Shades room are open so our visitors can enjoy the new planting. As we approach the holiday season and the end of 2020, there’s no doubt this has been a year like no other, but we have so much to be thankful for!
