1st Day of Spring

It was just crazy luck that our first open Saturday in almost exactly a year coincided with the Vernal Equinox! 🌷 Visitors to the gardens on the official first day of Spring were treated to cheerful pops of color and that bright green hue that signals new growth. Although the citrus grove was hard hit by the freeze, our orange was greeting guests with miniature fireworks in the form of Bulbine frutescens ‘Tiny Tangerine’ and Texas Bluebonnets. Spring ephemerals such as Narcissus ‘Geranium’ and ‘Pipit’ lend their sunny disposition to the border and provide much needed sustenance to bees. Once the heat rises these early springtime treasures will begin to fade so come on out and see them before they go back to sleep!
