Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center

Discovery Theater

The Discovery Theater is a key part of the visitor orientation experience for Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center and offers an introduction to sustainable design and construction practices for first-time visitors. This 75-seat space serves a variety of lecture, workshop, and multi-use functions in support of programming at Shangri La. However, its most frequent purpose is to introduce visitors to H.J. Lutcher Stark and Shangri La through a short video.

The video was produced and created by noted filmmaker Donna Lawrence who is from Louisville, Kentucky. She has produced movies for the National Constitution Center, Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center, Lewis and Clark Museum, American Jazz Museum, American Museum of Natural History and numerous others. Ms. Lawrence and her firm, Donna Lewis Productions, has been recognized with numerous awards from the New York Festival, American Association of Museums, National Education Film & Video Festival, Chicago International Film Festival and many more. Her Shangri La film captures both the philosophy of H.J. Lutcher Stark and the raw beauty of Shangri La as both nature and garden.

We are grateful to INVISTA for their continuing sponsorship of the Discovery Theater.
