Joseph Johnson


Prior to Shangri La, Joseph worked for The University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas within their Grounds & Landscape Department. He began implementing their first garden to promote a welcoming environment for patients and their well-being. Joseph continued to be involved with this vision at this world-class cancer center for almost 20 years. Joseph began his career with the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens where, as Horticulturist, he oversaw the Lay Ornamental Garden, a 2.2 acre garden filled with hundreds of perennials and woody plants. He was also responsible for the adjoining gardens surrounding the Camp House. Joseph received his Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Texas A&M University. Joseph is a Texas Certified Master Professional with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association, is a Texas licensed Landscape Irrigator, and holds a certified Pesticide Applicator License with the Texas Department of Agriculture.
