The Edibles Garden is a newly created demonstration garden adjacent to the Here We Grow! Children’s Garden and is dedicated to showcasing a variety of fruiting trees, shrubs, and vines that perform well in the Gulf Coast region of southeast Texas. Several of the varieties of plants used in the garden are self-pollinating and have low chill hours.
The Edibles Garden broadens the opportunity for learning more about edible landscaping and improves the views to the Children’s Garden. It also offers a perfect view of Dancing Sisters, the bottle tree sculpture created by Southern folk metal artist Stephanie Dwyer in 2015. This connection is further enhanced by the vine trellises in the Edibles Garden that were also designed and created by Stephanie.
