Job Summary: Shangri La Botanical Gardens & Nature Center, a program of the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation in Orange, Texas is seeking an ambitious LICENSED IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN or LICENSED IRRIGATOR.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:   Troubleshoot, repair and adjust irrigation systems on Stark Foundation properties.  Purchase and manage parts usage and inventory on service vehicle and in applicable storage area — Interact professionally and effectively with area supervisor and horticulturist and assist them with supplemental watering needs to sustain plant health — Program irrigation clocks per ET schedule and accommodate maintenance work schedules, operation hours, programs and events — Maintain a continuous operational irrigation system ensuring all safety standards, applicable permits, local codes and state regulations are met — Document assessment and inspections of new, existing, and modified systems regularly to ensure the most efficient and optimal operations
REQUIRED SKILLS: — Have a strong working knowledge of irrigation systems, controllers, and applicable materials, products, and equipment — Must be able to troubleshoot, inspect and repair irrigation systems — Must be able to speak, read and write English, read a variety of work orders, equipment manuals, and etc. — Requires the ability to prepare records using prescribed formats  — Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide — Have the ability to communicate effectively by telephone, two-way radio and face to face situations  — Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience — High School diploma or GED — A good driving record and valid Driver’s License are required — Texas Irrigation License is not required but is preferred; though an Irrigation Technician shall be licensed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ)  — Any experience with the operations and maintenance of water display features, lakes and ponds is a bonus.
Work may be subject to time pressures, emergency situations, noisy or distracting environment, working closely with others as part of a team, working alone 65% or more of the time, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and frequent changes to tasks.
